I am not the best patient when it comes to having blood drawn for testing. I have crummy veins and generally they are small... which means hard for them to find. Every once in a while I can get blood drawn without any problems... but apparently today wasn't the day.
The lady was... ummm... lets just say... rough. She slapped the "circulation killer" on my arm and stabbed the needle in... nice... no blood. So then she proceeded to dig around in my arm for a couple of minutes. This is when I tend to faint if it's going to happen...
I hung in there, but told her that she was going to have to stop - and try the other side. It went a little better - at least this time it didn't feel like being stabbed repeatedly with the needle... and we got the blood out.
She said I should have results within 24-48 hours, but the doctor's office said probably Thursday or Friday... so we'll see - I should know something by the end of the week either way. The earlier the better, but I can wait...
I'll come back later with another post... but I'm waiting on my technical peeps to get me some stuff I need to make it more dynamic. (everyone say Hi to my favorite technical guru - John)
Hi John! Just reading that made me feel like i was going to pass out!
ReplyDeleteI hate, hate, hate having blood drawn. I have had a phobia of needles (hyperventilating, passing out-- even when it's not me getting the needle). I do better now, but it really is not saying that much.
ReplyDeleteI would have asked for a new phlebotomist. Let them practice on someone who doesn't mind needles (hubby is one of those weirdos). I have worked too hard on getting over my phobia to let someone make me lose ground.
